With the Scottish League Cup final looming this weekend, it remains to be seen how Kjetil Knutsen manages his squad on Thursday, but Celtic are still expected to line up in his preferred 3-4-2-1 system.

Marcelo Saracchi remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Alistair Johnston, Callum Osmand and Cameron Carter-Vickers are longer-term absentees. Veteran winger James Forrest has only just returned to training and is not expected to feature prominently.

Hatate and Nygren, Celtic’s joint-top scorers in this season’s Europa League with two goals each, should both operate in advanced midfield roles behind the striker.

Roma, meanwhile, travel to Celtic Park without Ukraine international Artem Dovbyk, who has been ruled out for several weeks due to a thigh injury.

There is some good news for Gian Piero Gasperini, who may rotate his side following back-to-back defeats and with Monday’s clash against Como on the horizon: Brazilian wing-back Wesley is set to return after a short spell on the sidelines.

With Dovbyk still unavailable, Roma may deploy Paulo Dybala or Tommaso Baldanzi as a false nine, as traditional centre-forward Evan Ferguson remains out of favour.
